Lexus LF-A Review 2012

September 10, 2010 by

The Lexus 2012 LF-A is a technological advance Japanese car.   The Base MSRP for the car is $375,000, that’s a very expensive Toyota.  If you’re going to pay that much wouldn’t you rather drive a Ferrari?   Toyota are saying that each LF-A they sell, they are loosing money and you are getting a bargain for $375K which uses similar technology as the Ferrari Enzo..

Specs on the LF-A
ENGINE TYPE: DOHC 40-valve V-10, aluminum block and heads, port fuel injection
Displacement: 293 cu in, 4805cc
Power (SAE net): 553 bhp @ 8700 rpm
Torque (SAE net): 354 lb-ft @ 6800 rpm

TRANSMISSION: 6-speed automated manual
DIMENSIONS:
Wheelbase: 102.6 in Length: 177.4 in
Width: 74.6 in Height: 48.0 in
Curb weight (C/D est): 3500 lb

“The LFA’s engine is a V-10 simply because that was the layout of Formula 1 cars when Lexus embarked on the project. Plus, according to chief engineer Tanahashi, “We couldn’t get such high revs from a V-8, and a V-12 is too big and heavy.”  source: Car and Driver

PERFORMANCE (C/D EST):
Zero to 60 mph: 3.5 sec
Standing ¼-mile: 11.8 sec
Top speed (drag limited, mfr’s claim): 202 mph
